Das Modell gibt die markanten Formen des Vorbildes maßstabsgerecht wieder. Zur perfekten Wiedergabe des Betriebszustandes in Epoche 4 wurden alle im Zuge der Modernisierung entstandenen Änderungen am Vorbild auch beim Modell berücksichtigt. Diese betrafen neben den Frontfenstern auch den Dachleitungsverlauf und die Vorbaugestaltung. Technisch ist das neue PIKO-Modell am Puls der Zeit und verfügt über seidenweiche Fahreigenschaften, gute Zugkraft und serienmäßig eingebauten Lichtwechsel. Dieser ist wie die Beleuchtungen in Führerstand und Maschinenraum in modernster LED-Technik ausgeführt.
