Orientiert haben wir uns dabei am Meidericher Hüttenwerk in Duisburg, gegründet von August Thyssen zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts. Jahrzehntelang wurde dort Roheisen erzeugt – bis 1985 der letzte von fünf Hochöfen erlosch. Das Modell bildet den legendären Hochofen 2 des Werks nach und lässt die Montanindustrie in die Modellwelt einziehen. Ein technisch und historisch faszinierendes Thema, das ganz bewusst zu unserem 80-Jährigen Jubiläum weit über unsere regulären Neuheiten hinausreicht.
